Upgrade to UKZN iCatalogue

By Varsha Sookraj

The UKZN library iCatalogue has received a facelift. iCatalogue has upgraded from the old WorldCat local interface to a modern discovery tool namely WorldCat Discovery Services. This new interface comes with major functional and design improvements.

How is searching the UKZN iCatalogue different from a library catalog search?
A library catalog search primarily searches the print resources owned by that library.
In a single search, iCatalogue, can simultaneously search information resources in ALL formats instead of searching multiple platforms.

The new interface provides users with a Google-like searching experience to reliable and credible library resources.

Search results give you access to resources that are available at the UKZN library and in libraries worldwide. Results give you access to direct links to full text articles and books, location information to get a print copy at your campus library, access to interlibrary loans to request items, links to subscription databases as well as open access content.

The interface offers users a smarter searching experience by supporting novice and expert searchers. It offers users a brief and full display, improved navigation, additional sorting and filters, access to course reserves (academic reserves), save and email records as well as cite and export options.
